Rebuilding trust in giving

No black box, but full transparency from donation to impact

OpenCharities is a platform connecting donors, charities, and changemakers.

The problem

Giving today faces a crisis of trust. Donors are losing confidence, younger generations demand more transparency, and too many small initiatives are left without access to funding. These challenges define why OpenCharities exists.

Trust is declining

  • More than 50% of the global population has lost confidence in the nonprofit sector.
  • 95% of charities say public trust in the sector is declining.

Younger donors expect more

  • Giving is part of their identity: today’s donors want to shape impact, not just fund it.

  • No trust, no giving. Transparency is THE non-negotiable for the next generation.

Small initiatives excluded

  • Many changemakers can’t access funding, despite high potential. Grassroots initiatives and local changemakers remain unfunded and excluded in the current system.

Transparent Flows

All donated funds are traceable from donation to real impact. Donors see the results of their contribution, building lasting confidence.

Open Access

Charities and initiatives tap into new global funding streams. Even the smallest players can raise and manage funds.

Build Trust

Full transparency strengthens credibility. Donors stay engaged because they can verify the impact themselves.

Active Engagement

Donors become part of the community. They vote, interact, and co-create the future of giving.

Smart Compliance

Automated KYC and reporting save time. Governance becomes seamless and risk is reduced.

Scalable Growth

Charities grow smarter with real-time data insights. They expand reach without wasting precious resources.

Hidden Donations

Funds vanish into blurred systems. Donors rarely get to know where their money goes or what it achieves.

Missed Opportunities

High-potential initiatives stay unfunded. Traditional platforms often exclude smaller changemakers.

Eroding Trust

Without proof of impact, donors disengage. Trust in the nonprofit sector continues to decline.

One-Off Giving

Donations remain transactional and short-lived. There’s no community, no feedback loop.

Heavy Compliance

Manual reporting drains time and energy. Compliance becomes a burden instead of a safeguard.

Limited Growth

Charities can't scale with outdated tools. Innovation is blocked by legacy infrastructure.

Our Vision

We believe giving can, and should, work better.

Donating should be transparent, visible, and lead to direct impact. But today, many donors lack insight into what their contributions actually achieve, while changemakers and nonprofits struggle to access funding. We’re building the infrastructure for a new kind of giving: radically transparent, community-driven, and open to everyone.

A platform built to give, not to take.

We keep transaction fees as low as possible and design with intention in a way that more resources reach the people and causes that need them most. No guesswork. Just direct, visible impact.

Why I started OpenCharities

In 2020, my mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s at just 56. The years that followed deeply changed me. As her condition progressed and she moved to a nursing home in 2024, I felt an overwhelming drive to contribute something meaningful.

With my background in blockchain and banking, I first envisioned a community-driven charity for dementia, where donations were transparently managed and impactful ideas from the community could receive support.

But as I explored this concept, I realized the model had far broader potential. By turning its core elements into a scalable platform, OpenCharities was born: a way to connect donors, charities, businesses, and changemakers in one transparent, impactful, and community-driven ecosystem.
